Social Responsibility

Taking a cue from the example set by Director, Shri Shriyans Bhandari who established the now well-known social enterprise, GreenSole, the organization that has recycled and distributed thousands of footwear to the under-privileged of our country, the girls are keenly conscious of their social responsibilities. Students organize sales of handicraft items, paintings, and hand-made soaps, every Founders day to fund the distribution of blankets and woollens to the needy.

The school has undertaken several initiatives to encourage the ‘giving back’ attitude of children. Groups of school girls trudge to the government-run primary school nearby every Wednesday, to teach the students songs, art and hygiene. The children of the school are invited regularly to HGS to join us in the celebrations of National festivals or friendly football matches.

‘Udaan’ was launched last year when a short movie was made by the Gargi House to educate village women about menstrual hygiene and to distribute menstrual cups. Committed as we are towards the environment, every important festival is celebrated by the planting of saplings on the campus and the road leading to the Eklingji temple. The school has also adopted a 10th century monument, the Saas-bahu temple at Eklingji and pledged its upkeep.
